How do I find out about food allergies?
thechdlikempress asked:
I know this is a stupid question that results in a “go see the doctor”, but I don’t have insurance to cover that right now. How would I figure out if I have a gluten allergy? Thanks.

Wheat barley etc. Google gluten foods and you will find an entire list of gluten free foods. Pray that you don’t have it, your life will change dramatically!
Look up your symptoms online or go to health.yahoo.com and type in food allergies.
from your doctor
Hmmm… I don’t know, you might check around online to see if there is some sort of clinic or service in your area that will help you for free.
This is what I **** about the american Healthcare system, the people who need legit help for valid things can not get it without insurance or a load of cash or both. Even the simple things can be so hard to get.
You might also consider seeing if you are eligible for any kind of medicaid.
If you don’t have insurance and are concerned about gluten, I would suggest not eating foods that contain gluten for a few days and see how you feel. Then, eat gluten for a couple of days and see if there is any difference. If not, you probably are not allergic. If you do notice a difference, then stop eating it for a few days and see if the symptoms go away. If they do, you probably are allergic. Symptoms may include but are not limited to; sneezing, coughing; running nose, watery eyes, rash feeling lethargic and others. If you do see changes, then I would consult a doctor or nutritionist. Good luck!
